Now you have a choice. For 20 years, Ethernet has been used to move file-oriented data via the Internet Protocol (IP). In the last decade, Fibre Channel SANs (Storage Area Networks) using the SCSI protocol have evolved as the best way to move block data. iSCSI is a new protocol that enables block-oriented storage data to be carried by Ethernet networks.
